Surgery #1 - DONE!!

Home and Recovering from Breast Cancer Surgery #1

Home Sweet Home

Hello everyone,

I wanted to send a quick update to let you all know that I'm finally home after surgery today. We spent about 6 and a half hours at the hospital – I had no idea that a 2-hour surgery meant being there for 6+ hours!

The morning started with snow flurries – and I swear that's not an April Fool's joke! My mom always got excited about snow, so I knew she was watching over me today.

The procedure went well – they took 4 lymph nodes, which was 3 more than I hoped for, but whatever it takes. I trust my surgeons completely. I'm currently feeling no pain thanks to our wonderful anesthesiologist – someone Robie knows from his current job. Now comes the challenging part: resting, letting things heal, and trying to remember not to use my right arm (which is going to be very difficult).

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone for the prayers, good energy, beautiful fleet pics, your unwavering support, and all your kind messages. I'm sure that's why it went so smooth! I've noticed there are more packages on the porch, but I'll have to save opening those for another day when I have a bit more energy.

For now, I'm going to focus on rest and recovery. Your support means the world to me during this time.

All is under way – we are closer to the other side! I'm still looking forward to this cancer being REMOVED – but this next chapter has begun.

With gratitude,

Shawna
